Press Release on the Media
 "Round Robin". from Ron Owen

In the last three days dramatists from the media have been phoning One Nation and a certain individual and others from the shooting organisations and employing incorrect quotes attempting to fuel uninformed responses. Once they have those responses, they quickly ring someone else read that quote out and record that response. I believe the reason for this is to discredit One Nation's success at the weekend by the use of disparagement.

Firstly let me reiterate what I have said to the three media  dramatists that have phoned me in the last two days. "I have no input or connection with One Nation". " What our joint membership do is their own concern".

Secondly let me refute what has been stated in the newspapers." I am NOT an advocate of the Port Arthur Conspiracy Theories".  For many years I have been sent volumes of material from Western Australia concerning the Port Arthur Disaster, I have refused to print it or disseminate it, as it is long on claims of scientific facts and in short produces no useable  or credible evidence.

However, I am human, I like millions of shooters have questioned the information that has been distributed by the media concerning the Port Arthur Debacle.

Why do shooters ask these questions?

It was very convenient for the Federal and some of the State governments who had the legislation previously prepared and the Federal Government had signed International Treaties to that effect.

Two eminent Anti- Gun campaigners both are quoted as predicting this event, one was Roland Browne. who said, "We are going to see a mass shooting in Tasmania of the likes that you have seen in Strathfield and Hoddle Street unless we get National gun control laws".  In the Sun Herald 5 May 1996 it was reported that Barry Unsworth ex Premier of NSW made this prediction in 1987 " before uniform gun laws become possible in all States there will have to be a massacre in Tasmania". He made this comment after the reaction to his Gun Laws had thrown him from office.

The media have reported that the Tasmanian Government has a thirty year ban on releasing  public information concerning the disaster.

In the only official article available, printed in the Australian Police Journal in December 1998, headed, the Port Arthur Shooting Incident, Ballistic Evidence, by Sergeant Gerard Dutton, Tasmania many admissions were made:

1. Five hours had passed before the arrival of the Police.
2. That the crime scene was ‘contaminated' before they arrived.
3. Evidence had been removed such as cartridge cases and clothes by others, albeit tourists or
    ambulance personal.
4. They could not ascertain how many shots had been fired. If this is correct how could they prove         where they had been made from and by whom.
5. Work was not completed to match powder residue to firearms found at Seascape as eye            witnesses could give evidence to what had occurred, then none of those witnesses were ever called as Martin Bryant admitted guilt and there was proper trial, no evidence to put before a Jury.
6. No continuity of evidence, as the crime scenes had been contaminated, no firearms were  found at the crime scene, the firearms found at Seascape had been burnt and were not in the hands of Martin Bryant.
7. No Terminal or Wound Ballistics were included in this report, wounds were examined by the NSW Police. Wounds could not be matched to a particular rifle only a similar rifle.
8. No chemical tests were carried out to test and match residue on clothing from the rifles  found at Seascape.
9. Admits that cartridge cases could not be matched, nor could the projectile fragments, they could only say they were similar.
10. Admits that the AR15 rifle found at Seascape was uncomplete and unfunctional before it  was burnt in the fire.
(Fax Copies of this Complete Article are available on reasonable request.)
This Article is not from an unknown researcher its from the Police who are supposed to pick up all the pieces and supply the answers.
I am not saying that Martin Bryant is innocent or he had accomplices or promoting any theory what so ever. This is not proof of any thing it only raises questions, but all questions on this momentous disaster which had massive ramifications for millions of Australians deserve an Independent, (non-government) Inquiry not just another Public Service whitewash. Its about informing the victims of John Howard's Un informed National Gun Laws what exactly happened to cause the loss of there sport, hobby and property.
