Topic: The Parramatta Resolutions.
On the 9th December 2000 the body of a Repeal GST Rally unanimously resolved
7 resolutions.
Three of the seven resolutions made demands on the Federal Government.
The other four resolutions dealt with the action we the people would take if
government failed to meet the three demands made on government by the
resolutions.
The Parramatta Resolutions were put to two rallies held in Sydney during
January when both rallies unanimously confirmed their support for all seven
resolutions.
A copy of the seven resolutions was forwarded to all sitting member of both
Houses of the Federal Parliament on the 1 February 2001.
Nightly TV news in the week following the 1 February broadcast witness to a
developing revolt within the sitting members of the Federal Parliament.
The Parramatta Resolutions had an immediate effect. Within the month two
of the three demands made in the Parramatta Resolutions have been met in
full by the Federal Parliament.
Resolution 4. Called for the cancelling of the February increase in fuel
excise.
Resolution 5. Called for the repeal of CPI adjustments to fuel excise.
The only outstanding demand is the repeal of the GST.
Two further motions will be put to a Repeal GST Alliance Rally to be held in
Blacktown on Saturday 10 March. One resolution will be demanding that Fuel
Tax is cot by 50% and that all remaining fuel tax be spent on the nations
roads, The second is a demand for the repeal the 1953 Taxation Act that
allows individuals and companies that are registered off-shore to escape
income tax.
The repeal of the 1953 Taxation Act removes all excuses and reasons for not
repealing the GST because the repeal of this Act will bring in more revenue
than the GST and the fuel tax combined.
We have proved that success is possible. We have found their Achilles heal.
