We are currently seeking applications for a Software Engineer position at the 
Ontology Engineering Group, Computer Science School (Facultad de Informática) 
of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, in the context of the European R&D 
project Wf4Ever. This project is coordinated by iSOCO, S.A., and several 
research groups participate in it, including some from Spain (Ontology 
Engineering Group and Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía), from the United 
Kingdom (University of Manchester and Oxford University) and Poland (Poznan 
Supercomputing Centre).

Required skills:
Software Engineer with deep knowledge of J2SE and/or Scala, and with at least 
two year experience in application development. Basic knowledge of Web 
technologies is required, including XML (XML Schema, XSLT, XQuery, XPath, 
XInclude) and Web services (WSDL 1.1 and 2.0, SOAP, REST). It is also desirable 
that the candidate has basic knowledge of Web2.0 application development, using 
REST and related specifications (WADL), workflow languages and tools (BPEL, 
SCUFL, Taverna), and Cloud-Computing and virtualization.

Good skills in written and spoken English are also necessary.

We will also value the ability of the candidate in team-working and 
communication as part of a multinational and multidisciplinary team.

Description:
The position requires participating in the development of scientific workflows 
in the areas of Biology and Astronomy, and in the development of personalised 
recommendation algorithms, based on the combination of techniques coming from 
the areas of information retrieval, Semantic Web and collaborative filtering, 
as part of a multinational and multidisciplinar team in the context of an PF7 
European R&D project.

What we offer:
The selected candidate will form part of the Ontology Engineering Group team, 
under a full-time three-year contract, whose duration will be from December 
2010 to November 2013. The net salary will range between 30K€ and 50K€, 
depending on qualifications and skills.
