How is this linked?
For data I found only:
http://semanticommunity.info/@api/deki/files/18739/Guardian.xlsx
And, interested in medals, I found only aggregate medals data indexed by
geographical labels (within a geo-political taxonomy), not shared
identifiers.

*Subject:* The Olympics in Linked Data (Sort of)
All,
It occurred to me this morning that the Olympics provides an
interesting example of Social Networking.
I made four tables in xhtml and CSV.
http://www.rustprivacy.org/2012/roadmap/olympics/ or
http://www.rustprivacy.org/2012/roadmap/olympics/olympics.zip
1. all_keys (676 Rows)
2. team_keys (203 Rows)
3. v_fan_counts (242 Rows)
4. v_fan_places (4348 Rows) CSV Only
a. (1) includes the ISO 639-1 two character codes, Country Names in
English and French, and links to the LOC id Servers.
b. In addition, (1) includes a "Virtual Fan Of" key. This table
includes all possible two character codes. Some Countries do not have
Teams.
c. (2) includes a cross reference to the Official Teams. The Teams
are not "National", and some Countries field multiple Teams (e.g.
Puerto Rico has its own Team).
d. The Fans of a Country may be related to multiple Teams, and a
Country may be related to multiple places, internal or overseas,
States, Territories, etc.
e. (3) is a list of the relations, with counts of the subdivisions.
There are 39 "extra" places Fans can lurk, which do not field Teams.
f. (4) CSV Only, link on the (3) page is a full listing of all the
States, Provinces, etc. where Olympic Fans dwell.
g. The Linked Data URI's are of the form {dot gov dot country code}.
Hopefully no one will easily convert them to URL's (which won't work)
Snarky initial observations
------------------------------------
Aland Islanders are rooting for Team Finland. Sorry to spoil the
surprise. You did not miss Team Vatican City at the opening
ceremonies. They have Fans, though. Not all Fans are included, since
Fans are not "rational". UK Fans root for the UK but are included
anyway, however irrational they may be. Ain't Linked Data Grand ?
(have fun)
