Job description
Are you a motivated software engineer with a passion for research? The IBM
Research Lab in Dublin seeks talented, experienced
and enthusiastic software engineers to join our research team.
You will work with cutting edge technologies and our worldwide research team
to solve real-world problems in domains such as
health and urban systems. Learning about new technologies and domains, and an
ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly
for successful collaboration with other research teams is essential. You will
contribute across all areas of software
engineering, including the design, deployment and scalability of systems.
You are expected to be a confident self-starter who is comfortable working in
a dynamic research environment and be ready to
jump in to help when
needed. It goes without saying that excellent team and communication skills
are mandatory.

Required:
-Mobile application design and development skills in at least one of iOS or
Android
-Java enterprise application development
-Previous experience working in team environments with limited supervision
-Experience designing and developing visual interfaces
-Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Preferred:
-3+ years experience of industrial-grade software development
-Knowledge of design thinking principles
-Experience with application development of mobile applications for Health,
Wellness or similar
-Practical industry experience and knowledge in Health and Care related
domains
-Experience with Web development and design (examples of your work online is a
definite plus)
-Experience in mathematical methods, such as data mining or optimization
-Practical knowledge of Semantic Technologies (for example, RDF, RDFS, OWL,
SPARQL)
-Scripting tools such as Perl, Python and Linux Shell Scripting
