I think it would be good to publish XXX http://www.w3.org/mid/[EMAIL PROTECTED] as a separate draft (first) to get feedback solely on that. We can later always integrate it in XMLHttpRequest 2 whenever I've time to work on that.
Are you willing to convert your initial proposal into some HTML ready form and put it in CVS so we can consider it for publication?
