To be clear, there is a difference between the src DOM attribute on the img
element and the src content attribute on the img element (in HTML5 terms). I.e.
in
<img src="test" id="x">
var x = document.getElementById("x")
alert(x.src)
alert(x.getAttribute("src"))
the alerts will give a different result. The first will be a resolved URL and
the second will just return the contents of the attribute.
