The last test I ran with DOMCrypt encrypting the text of a 630K e-book took 0.126 seconds, decrypt() took: 0.335 seconds. This is on a very new Core i7 laptop running linux. (Optimized build).
I look forward to doing more performance tests and comparing them to JS libraries.
