Hi Ronny - to formally participate in the Web Applications WG, your
company must first join the W3C and information about that process can
be found in [1].
Re W3C widgets, I consider the v1 specs functionally complete with the
exception of the Widget Update specs. See [2] for the status of the
group's widget specs.
The WG does have a "Widgets Embedding" spec in its charter. There hasn't
been any formal work done on that spec although there is a wiki to
gather links to related resources [3].

Hello W3C,
My company is looking to become an active participant in the W3C
widgets standard. We are a portal software company and we have a
widget standard that is similar to this standard and OpenSocial
Gadgets. We would like to participate as allowed by W3C in the
requirements definition and standard definition. Also, We would love
to be listed a user agent that is looking to support this standard in
our 5.0 release. Please let me know what the process is for active
participation.
Regards,
