Welcome back, Luis! :)

This Directive is quite important to us, so we will give it a serious
amount of attention. After a first look it seems much less biased than the
"Data Driven Economy" one. We know that they are planning a legislative
package on data in the Digital Single Market. Overhauling this Directive
by, let's say, scrapping the sui generis right part, seems possible right
now. The main risk is that the Commission might be getting pressure to
introduce a new related right on data in parallel, which would do plenty of
harm.

I am meeting the unit responsible for this next week and will have fresh
news to share. They have hired some external consultant to also analyse the
stakeholder field in parallel. The more examples of start-ups we can come
up with, that experience the sui generis right as an obstacle, the better.

Cheers,

Dimi
