Dear all, Thank you for taking the time to join us last week for the *2025 Advocacy Network Launch Call.* This emails provides a recap and summary of next steps (see also notes in Etherpad <https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/Agenda_%26_Notes,_Global_Advocacy_Conversation_Hours>), including how to get involved if you missed the call.
*Call outcomes* We established three working groups. 1. *Develop a common language: *Definition, differences and implications of "Open", "Digital Public Goods" and "Commons", etc. 🫡 Lead: @Catalina Frigerio <[email protected]>. 2. *Copyright: *This group will work on a plan to raise awareness about how Copyright rules impact Wikimedians' work across projects, while also identifying specific legislation to push for/against at the national level. 🫡 Lead: @Olushola Olaniyan <[email protected]> 3. *Policy position primers: *This group will develop 3-5 pagers on Wikimedia's core policy priorities, including why these topics matter for our movement, talking points, examples of advocacy work on the topic, and further reading resources. 🫡 Lead: @Jeremy Bernick <[email protected]> *Next steps* - *Working groups: *The leads are responsible for officially launching each working group. Action: The leads should organize monthly calls (or whatever frequency the group decides) that are open to anyone who wishes to work on that topic; during these calls each group should advance work on a specific project they decide is important for the advocacy network. I recommend everyone reach out to the leads if you wish to join their group. - *Quarterly advocacy network calls: *We will have quarterly calls for the entire group. Ziski will help with scheduling and moderation, but the agenda is up to you! Action: Please fill out this Doodle poll <https://doodle.com/group-poll/participate/dNXqZ4Na> by March 10 to set our next time.
