I am sure it comes as no surprise, but I believe 'ver' values need to be
ordered and present in the request for items on a per item basis to resolve
the issue with synch and async retrieval of the same item at the application
level. This would then resolve more use cases than the opaque id.
I have pushed for some sort of timestamp to represent a version, and
although that is not necessary, I believe ordering is.
PS:
I have no personal use for an actual timestamp, but I believe if XMPP pubsub
becomes well adopted as a service delivery platform, there will be future
requests for this to be included in the spec.
Guess I will have to wait and see 8-)
