Regarding this issue, I installed pcre-7.8-6.el6.x86_64 and stop/started mongod
and it started right up.
Rhel 6.3 as well
mongodb-2.4.6-1.el6.x86_64
pulp-server-2.3.1-1.el6.noarch

I have also experienced this issue. I believe it happened more often when my
file system was nearly full, but it's been a few months since I tried to use it.
