The method you describe is the only way I have found for rpm repos. I have
done it, and I can tell you it works (for rpm repos).
However, this does appear to be a design oversight.

Hi,
I want to unpublish an ISO repository (on Pulp 2.3)
I could not find how to proceed in the documentation
http://pulp-rpm-user-guide.readthedocs.org/en/pulp-2.3/isos.html#recipes
or with the interactive help on the command line.
How should I proceed ? Just rm the directory in
/var/lib/pulp/published/http/isos and in
/var/lib/pulp/published/https/isos ?
Thanks
Paul
