Yes, that's correct.

As a user? No, you can't do anything.
I expect PulseAudio to get HFP support in the not-too-distant future, though.
It won't be in version 10.0, but I would guess that 11.0 will have it. There
are already patches that add HFP support, but they need some more work before
they'll be merged.
