The "not connected" problem is pretty common, but I haven't heard of anyone
figuring out a solution for it. bluetoothd should connect the HSP profile, but
apparently that doesn't happen, so it looks like a bug in bluez.
Note also that trying to use ofono won't work, because ofono doesn't support
headsets. Ofono only works to the other direction: connecting to e.g. a mobile
phone.
