My guess is that this is a kernel driver bug, but figuring out a test case for
reproducing the problem without pulseaudio is probably hard...
If you change
load-module module-udev-detect
to
load-module module-udev-detect tshced=0
in /etc/pulse/default.pa, does that work around the issue?
