Karl, After going back and reading some of the other threads that you've started, is there a specific reason that you're trying to compile pulseaudio yourself? Pulseaudio is already available in Fedora 8, although you won't get it by default if you do an upgrade (you get it by default if you do a fresh install). Try doing:
yum groupinstall sound-and-video gnome-desktop yum install libflashsupport paman padevchooser and you should get the full pulseaudio setup.
