This looks very interesting and is definitely the route I would like
to go.  However, it seems to be out of date.  For example, on my
openSuSE 10.2 box (with a 2.6.21 Linux kernel), I neither have
/sbin/hotplug nor /etc/hotplug.  Do you have a link to more recent
information on that?
