It's probably safe to say that:
1) Gnome Volume Control will be a simpler, less complex way to control
pulse, but wont be able to do everything.
2) pavucontrol will be able to control pulse *more* but will likely
remain somewhat ugly and be slightly confusing to Average Joe.
