#460: Pulseaudio problems with OSS 4.1 and/or libcanberra 0.10 ---------------------------+------------------------------------------------ Reporter: jlibster | Owner: lennart Type: defect | Status: closed Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: module-oss-* | Severity: normal Resolution: duplicate | Keywords: ---------------------------+------------------------------------------------ Changes (by lennart):
* status: new => closed * resolution: => duplicate Comment: PA has nothing to do with Vorbis playback. Or are you saying they use lc without Vorbis support? That would be weird. OSS4 is not really supported by PA. OSS is obsolete. Nonetheless we have an OSS module in PA. But that supports only the well-known cross-platform OSS3 API. While the OSS4 folks claim OSS4 is compatible it actually is not. In certain ways it introduces new behaviour that is not documented and breaks PA. See #247. That said it is probably easy to fix PA for OSS4. It's just that noone has shown interest in actually doing this. Patches welcome. libcanberra supports multiple backends, depending on how you configure it at compile time and runtime. If you are building it yourself then you probably haven't enabled all necessary backends correctly. If PA freezes for you, please provide a backtrace as documented here: http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/Community#PatchesBugsTranslations This bug reports mixes up a lot of different issues. Please create seperate bug reports for different issues. Also, please report libcanberra bugs to http://bugs.freedesktop.org. I am now closing this bug since the main issue apparently is the OSS4 incompatible which we already have a bug about (#247). -- Ticket URL: <http://www.pulseaudio.org/ticket/460#comment:2> PulseAudio <http://pulseaudio.org/> The PulseAudio Sound Server _______________________________________________ pulseaudio-tickets mailing list pulseaudio-tickets@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-tickets
