#536: Pulseaudio should recognize audio devices with many input streams -----------------------------+---------------------------------------------- Reporter: Maxim Levitsky | Owner: lennart Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: daemon | Severity: normal Resolution: | Keywords: -----------------------------+---------------------------------------------- Changes (by lennart):
* milestone: 0.9.15 => Comment: Those three ADCs are completely independant? Too me this smells a lot like they are supposed to be used as a single 6ch recording input which for the playback case in ALSA is covered via the 'multi' plugin which then becomes surround51:. Which we support. The problemis that ALSA doesn't give us the slightest clue how subdevices actually relate to each other. We don't know if we can use optical and analog at the same time. We don't if we can use playback and recording at the same time. We don't even know from the name hinting logic if a device is playback-only or maybe record-only. We don't know if a device can be opened more than once for hw mixing, or if it can be opened more than once for different outputs. We don't know anything. I fear before PA can make use of this the ALSA device enumeration API must be beefed up considerably. Sorry. I am pretty sure your 3 dacs don't appear in aplay -L either, do they? -- Ticket URL: <http://pulseaudio.org/ticket/536#comment:2> PulseAudio <http://pulseaudio.org/> The PulseAudio Sound Server _______________________________________________ pulseaudio-tickets mailing list pulseaudio-tickets@mail.0pointer.de https://tango.0pointer.de/mailman/listinfo/pulseaudio-tickets
