#601: Audio not working

Audio is not functioning when PulseAudio (0.9.15) is in use; it seems to
work fine if I kill PulseAudio. With PulseAudio running, I see lots of
messages like this in `/var/log/messages`:

Jul 9 21:18:13 localhost pulseaudio[3702]: alsa-sink.c: Error opening PCM
device front:0: Device or resource busy
Jul 9 21:18:13 localhost pulseaudio[3702]: sink-input.c: Failed to create
sink input: sink is suspended.
