Are you sure this isn't just the known SIMD problems? If you have MMX
and/or SSE but no SSE2 or SSE3 in /proc/cpuinfo then this is quite likely.
Quick test is to put:
{{{
export PULSE_NO_SIMD=1
}}}
in your ~/.bashrc and reboot. If this helps there are fixes already in git
for that that are tee'd up for the 0.9.21 release.
