I'm afraid the formatting mess of my original report may have confused
things a bit. I did as suggested in the message and opened a bug report
with ALSA. However, it quickly got too technical for me and the ALSA
developer wanted some feedback from pulseaudio developers.
I opened this ticket here in an attempt to bring attention to the ALSA bug
report.
