Wow. Um. I don't really know how to deal with this -- the problem is that the
client is not seeing an 'ok' result, so it assumes there was a failure.

How can we reasonably fix this?

Really, if we could figure out why we're getting these 'other end went away'
problems, we would be much better off.

Bug #1704: report delivery succeeds even though puppetd thinks it fails
http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/show/1704

Author: martin
Status: Accepted
Priority: Normal
Assigned to: community
Category: network
Target version: 0.24.7
Complexity: Unknown
Affected version: 0.24.6
Keywords:

When puppetd delivers the report to puppetmasterd it sometimes thinks the
delivery failed even though it succeeded. I get the tagmail report (multiple
copies - one for each retry) but puppetd logs:
warning: Other end went away; restarting connection and retrying

And then tries to delivers the report again. The high score so far is 147
retries before it was satisfied that it the job was done :)
