Bug #1724: removing time from cron doesn't update crontab entry
http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/show/1724
Author: micah
Status: Unreviewed
Priority: Low
Assigned to:
Category: cron
Target version:
Complexity: Unknown
Affected version: 0.24.5
Keywords:
I had the following cron config:
<pre>
cron {
"update_sanesecurity":
command => "/usr/local/sbin/unofficial-sigs.sh &>/dev/null",
user => root,
hour => 2,
minute => 5;
</pre>
This results in a crontab entry as follows:
<pre>
# Puppet Name: update_sanesecurity
5 2 * * * /usr/local/sbin/unofficial-sigs.sh &>/dev/null
</pre>
I decided that I needed this to run every hour, instead of at 2am. So I removed
the hour line. This didn't change the crontab entry as I expected, I was
expecting the crontab entry to be changed to be:
<pre>
# Puppet Name: update_sanesecurity
5 * * * * /usr/local/sbin/unofficial-sigs.sh &>/dev/null
</pre>
Why did I expect this to happen? Well, because if I define a new crontab in
puppet, and do not include the hour, thats how it will show up.
