Issue #1779 has been reported by micah. ---------------------------------------- Feature #1779: Please do not include the debian source in the release http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/show/1779
Author: micah Status: Unreviewed Priority: Normal Assigned to: Category: Debian Target version: 0.24.7 Complexity: Unknown Affected version: 0.24.6 Keywords: It would make the debian packaging effort much easier if the upstream release did not include conf/debian at all. This appears to be a copy of the debian source tree for the package. This causes a hopeless headache when we try to merge in upstream's new release tarball because git gets very confused by the similarity of your conf/debian with our debian and tries to do a merge/rename and we end up having to resolve an annoying pile of conflicts that shouldn't be there. I think it would be fine to keep a branch, if you wanted to, of the debian packaging, but shipping it in a release doesn't solve any problems. If you are wanting to ship it so people can easily build their own debian packages based off of the latest upstream release, I would prefer that you do not ship it and instead let people do this the normal way (obtain the debian source package from debian and then add the debian directory to the upstream release tar if they want it). ---------------------------------------- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
