I got stuck with this error message:
err: Could not create sshd: undefined method `controllable?' for
nil:NilClass
warning: Not using cache on failed catalog
warning: Configuration could not be instantiated: undefined method
`controllable?' for nil:NilClass
My manifest looked like this:
My ssh manifest looks like this:
file { "/etc/ssh/sshd_config":
ensure => "present",
owner => root,
group => root,
mode => 644,
source => "puppet:///files/global/etc-ssh-sshd_config",
checksum => "md5",
backup => true
}
package { openssh-server: ensure => installed }
service { "sshd":
require => Package[openssh-server],
subscribe => File["/etc/ssh/sshd_config"],
ensure => 'running'
}
When I finally tracked it down, it turned out that I had conflicting puppet
keys on the client. I believe that I had two sets of keys on there, both
"valid" but with different names. I removed the keys and got new ones and
resolved the problem.
The error message that I got did not help resolve the problem. If a host has a
key problem, it would be good to note that.
