Issue #2114 has been reported by kylecordes. ---------------------------------------- Feature #2114: Poor init script failure mode http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/2114
Author: kylecordes Status: Unreviewed Priority: Normal Assigned to: Category: usability Target version: Complexity: Unknown Affected version: 0.24.7 Keywords: The original details of this problem had to do with bindaddress, but aren't actually relevant. The usability problem is this: There is at least one failure mode (involving bindaddress) and probable more, in which puppetmasterd appears to start (and returns success to/from its init script), but actually dies almost immediately, without becoming ready. This is tricky to track down, because of the apparent success and because (in at least one case) nothing ends up in the puppetmaster log. The preferable behavior is that the puppetmaster startup process (and init script) do not return success until/unless the whole initialization process completes, and HTTP server is live and ready to serve requests. ---------------------------------------- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
