Issue #2461 has been updated by Luke Kanies.
The point of the deprecation notice is to provide people a window in which they can migrate versions. I prefer that we still use the new value, but if we can't find it (because people are using an older version), then we drop to the old value and print the deprecation notice. It's entirely about usability and support. ---------------------------------------- Bug #2461: directoryservice provider should work out major OS X version itself and provide a warning. http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/2461 Author: Nigel Kersten Status: Accepted Priority: Normal Assigned to: Nigel Kersten Category: Target version: Complexity: Unknown Affected version: 0.25.0 Keywords: As per the discussion here: https://groups.google.com/group/puppet-dev/browse_frm/thread/37d1654c33af7bfc/72f964b60bc87db9#72f964b60bc87db9 Conclusion was that we should: <pre> >> b) continue to duplicate the Facter code for major version inside the >> provider with a Facter version warning. </pre> Submitting as a new bug as the previous patch has already been committed. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
