if the alias param is not specified, then the host does not control aliases
/etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain
hosts.pp
host { 'localhost':
ip => '127.0.0.1',
target => '/etc/hosts',
ensure => 'present'
}
Shouldnt this remove the localhost.localdomain entry?
