Feature #3359: Update event-loop to the latest version.

Author: Nigel Kersten
Status: Needs design decision
Priority: Normal
Assigned to:

Affected version: 0.25.4
Keywords:
Branch:

I was poking around in the puppet code profiling various things and thought I'd
have a look at whether replacing event-loop with the latest version improved
performance at all.

It doesn't seem to, but I've done all the work in updating to the newer
version, so I thought we may as well consider patching it anyway, as there are
some improvements in event-loop that could be useful further down the track.

It's not a complex patch, but unsure which branch you'd want me to base this
against if submitted.

contains my commit based against 0.25.x
