Henrik Lindberg commented on PUP-4968   Re: Generate helpful output which reflects code coverage data Actually, the counts are per instruction, so a first version would show a percentage of instructions evaluated per file. Later, when aggregating per line, there can be both evaluated, and unevaluated portions on the same line. Some lines should not count because they have no evaluatable code on them etc. Thus, that is a harder problem. As an example: define foo($a = 10+20, $b = fqdn_rand(100)) { notice "$a, $b" } There is a lot going on that single line. The AST count will be accurate, but "per line" would lie if values are given and the default value expressions goes unevaluated.
