Issue #3043 has been updated by Markus Roberts.

If I'm not mistaken, we've drifted into discussing another possible bug, not
directly related to this ticket, specifically the question of when the
config_version is refreshed (e.g., if you have to restart puppet).

This is an interesting issue in its own right (e.g., are there synchronization
issues between the manifest and the config version created by this, esp. with
regard to the file timeout) but it doesn't belong on this ticket--probably
#3692 would be a better place for it.

As for the script vs. executable issue, does anyone have a repeatable instance
of this or know what we would need to do to make it happen?

Bug #3043: Exec format error with config_version being a shell script
http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/3043

Author: R.I. Pienaar aka Volcane
Status: Investigating
Priority: High
Assigned to: Markus Roberts
Category: plumbing
Target version: 2.6
Affected version: 0.25.2
Keywords:
Branch:

hello,

I've a simple script that just looks like this:

<pre>
#!/bin/bash

/bin/date
</pre>

If I set _config_version_ to this I get:

info: Applying configuration version 'Exec format error -
/usr/local/bin/getrevision.sh'

but If I set _config_version_ to _/bin/date_ directly it works a charm, seems
to only affect scripts not binaries, newest system I have is 0.25.2 and it
fails there.
