Christopher Tapp updated an issue   Puppet / PUP-6387 Puppet agent hung waiting on read from puppetmaster Change By: Christopher Tapp I find that on my Ubuntu 14.04 nodes one will regularly hang on 'applying configuration'.  I have to kill -9 the process, then another ps is kicked off, which succeeds.  Strace/lsof shows: {{  # strace -p $(ps aux | grep applying | grep -v grep | awk '{ print $2}')   Process 25441 attached  select(9, [8], NULL, NULL, NULL  # lsof -np 25441 -ad 8  puppet  25441 root    8u  IPv4          180143883      0t0       TCP <node ip>:53710-><puppetmaster ip>:8140 (ESTABLISHED) }} On the puppetmaster though there is no open connection to the node. The puppetmaster is ticking along fine, no obvious problems, now or at the time the agent hung.
