Bug #4303: warning: Unrecognised escape sequence '\.' in file .....
http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/4303

Author: R.I. Pienaar aka Volcane
Status: Closed
Priority: Normal
Assigned to: Markus Roberts
Category:
Target version: 2.6.1
Affected version: 2.6.0
Keywords:
Branch: [email protected]:MarkusQ/puppet.git ticket/master/4303

The following gives an error about unrecognised escape sequences:

<pre>
        apache::vhost{"XXX.co.uk":
                aliases         => ["www.XXX.co.uk",
                                    "*.XXX.co.uk"],
                owner           => deploy,
                group           => deploy,
                template        => "apache/ssl-and-normal-vhost.erb",
                chainfile       => true,
                railsvhost      => cap,
                customlines     => ['RewriteEngine On',
                                    'RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}   ^XXX\.co.uk
[NC]',
                                    'RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}   !^$',
                                    'RewriteRule ^/(.*)
http://www.XXX.co.uk/$1 [L,R]']
        }
</pre>

Full Error:

<pre>
puppet-master[14946]: Unrecognised escape sequence '\.' in file
/etc/puppet/manifests/common/modules/apache/manifests/vhost/xxx_co_uk.pp at
line 11
</pre>

The error is for the 2nd line of the customlines property, so the problem is
this string is single quoted and the master shouldnt care what's inside it
surely?
