Bug #4668: deprecation warnings after installing rails 2.3.8
http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/4668

Author: Clay Caviness
Status: Needs more information
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category: error reporting
Target version:
Affected version:
Keywords:
Branch:

On my OS X 10.6 machine I installed rails 2.3.8 (via sudo gem install rails).

Since then, every "sudo puppetd -t" run emits dozens of DEPRECATION WARNINGs to
stderr:

[...]
DEPRECATION WARNING: metaclass is deprecated and will be removed from Rails 2.3
(use singleton_class instead). (called from meta_eval at
/Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/puppet/util/metaid.rb:4)
DEPRECATION WARNING: metaclass is deprecated and will be removed from Rails 2.3
(use singleton_class instead). (called from initialize at
/Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/puppet/network/xmlrpc/client.rb:52)
[...]

I think puppet should in the long term clear up these deprecated calls, or in
the short term require a specific version of rails.

$ gem list rails

rails (2.3.8, 2.3.5, 1.2.6)
