Issue #4731 has been reported by Adrian Rixon. ---------------------------------------- Bug #4731: Client reports "Invalid IP address", need better error http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/4731
Author: Adrian Rixon Status: Unreviewed Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Affected version: 0.25.5 Keywords: Branch: I get "Parameter IP failed: Invalid IP Address" on two newly-built Puppet clients under RHEL 5.5. The underlying cause isn't the issue, the problem is that the error message gives me almost nothing to go on. After inserting extra debug in the code, I see that $ip is empty, but where does it get this value from? If a file, which one and what line? If from system config, how is it derived? I've run the client and server in debug/trace mode, and I'm still not seeing where this problem originates. The Puppet master system has been cloned from an existing server and renamed/re-addressed. A client system that was also cloned with it works fine. This issue only affects two new clients, so I assume some old config in the server hasn't been cleared out. However, the output needs to show more info about the origin of the error. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
