Issue #4958 has been reported by Rick Garcia. ---------------------------------------- Bug #4958: first puppet run fails on new node when using external nodes http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/4958
Author: Rick Garcia Status: Unreviewed Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Affected version: Keywords: external, external nodes, puppet, puppet dashboard, dashboard Branch: When i provision a new host/node, on the first puppet run I get this error: err: Failed to find newnode.domain.com via exec: Execution of '/usr/share/puppet-dashboard/bin/external_node newnode.domain.com' returned 1: Error: 404 Not Found err: Could not find node 'servicesportal1.staging.qwest'; cannot compile After the first run, the report gets sent to the puppet dashboard and the node is auto-created. The second run on the new puppet node is successful because the new node is now returned to /usr/share/puppet-dashboard/bin/external_node. I don't think that puppet should fail && exit if the new node (or any node rather) if the node isn't in the puppet dashboard. Thoughts? Someone in the puppet IRC channel asked me to file this bug Cheers, -Rick -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
