This can happen with a simple example like plan simple(TargetSpec $nodes) { $target = get_targets($nodes)[0] apply($target) { notice("Target 0: ${$target.name}") } } and results in an error like /Users/michaelsmith/puppetlabs/bolt/vendored/puppet/lib/puppet/pops/evaluator/runtime3_support.rb:39:in `optionally_fail': Evaluation Error: Unknown function: 'name'.
