Issue #5691 has been updated by Jesse Wolfe. Status changed from Available In Testing Branch to Rejected
reverted in next as of commit:026eba3a7b568e6ef7c8ea8032ea49c65dfd8295 ---------------------------------------- Feature #5691: Experimental process name based instrumentation https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/5691 Author: Paul Berry Status: Rejected Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Statler Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: This ticket captures experimental work done by Brice Figureau and published on the dev list under the subject lines "Experimental process name based instrumentation", "Process name instrumentation infrastructure", and "Some high-level process name probes". In brief, the idea is: while Puppet is doing potentially time-consuming activities, such as node compilation, individual resource evaluation, and satisfying network requests, change the process name string (using $0) to reflect what Puppet is doing. This allows utilities like "top" to give more useful information about what Puppet is doing while it's consuming CPU. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
