Dupe of #5845 ---------------------------------------- Bug #6055: Use of "Hostname" with regard to node creation is incorrect. https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/6055 Author: Nigel Kersten Status: Duplicate Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Keywords: Branch: Affected URL: Affected Dashboard version: We make this error all over the place. **certnames are not hostnames** nodes/new -> First field. It's not a Hostname. It's a certificate name or a puppet node identifier, but even though many people *use* their hostname value as their certname, there is no necessary relationship, just a correlation. This isn't just a minor nitpick. If you manage laptops or cloud installations with Puppet, you get frustrated by the conflation of the two terms. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
