I'd honestly recommend our packaging do something like: rm -r /opt/puppetlabs/bolt/lib/ruby/gems/2.5.0/gems/*/{test,spec,ext,acceptance,integration,examples} Some gems package a whole lot of unnecessary files. ffi is the worst, but it's not really there fault; the gem compiler leaves all intermediate object files in ext/.
