Now that the exec type groks providers, having the posix provider support both 
MS Windows and *nix is needlessly complex (and, I suspect, obscuring some bugs 
/ edge cases).  They should be split into two distinct providers, cleaned up, 
and validated for correct behavior in edge cases.
