Issue #6788 has been updated by Garrett Honeycutt. Assignee deleted (Nigel Kersten)
Puppet Enterprise is by definition a **supported** product. I would strongly urge that we do not endeavor to add platforms to PE without them being supported, no matter how trivial that process is. By doing so we undermine the purpose of PE. That said, I do believe that we should support Amazon's Linux distro as supporting EC2 is critical to our success. Pro's and Con's of support: Pro:
* Support EC2 with the standard images that Amazon provides * show our commitment to the cloud
Con:
* With every platform that we support, complexity and amount of work for each PE release increases, largely due to testing
---------------------------------------- Feature #6788: Amazon Linux AMI support https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/6788 Author: Garrett Honeycutt Status: Needs More Information Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Keywords: amazon, ami, aws Branch: Affected PE version: Launch new instance and pick the first one
Basic 32-bit Amazon Linux AMI 2011.02.1 Beta (AMI Id: ami-8c1fece5) Amazon Linux AMI Base 2011.02.1, EBS boot, 32-bit architecture with Amazon EC2 AMI Tools.
