Issue #6698 has been updated by Garrett Honeycutt.
Cannot speak to (a) In regards to (b), Training sessions have shown this to be unexpected. Also, this request is in efforts to simplify the language and aid adoption. ---------------------------------------- Refactor #6698: get rid of semicolons when using code compression https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/6698 Author: Garrett Honeycutt Status: Needs More Information Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: Target version: Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: Currently when you have multiple titles listed in one resource type, the last attribute of each title must end in a semicolon. <pre> file { "/tmp/one": owner => "root", group => "root", mode => "0644"; "/tmp/two": owner => "root", group => "root", mode => "0644"; } </pre> Would like to make the semicolon unnecessary and allow just commas. (Eventually deprecating semicolons, perhaps 3.0) Reasoning is such the extra syntax is superfluous and as such is a detriment to learning the DSL. We should endeavor to make the language simpler wherever possible, such as this. <pre> file { "/tmp/one": owner => "root", group => "root", mode => "0644", "/tmp/two": owner => "root", group => "root", mode => "0644", } </pre> -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
