Issue #7683 has been updated by Daniel Pittman.

Vendoring code causes our upstreams to be unhappy with us. This can cause all
sorts of strange side-effects for third party software, because they can end up
installing our code, not the upstream ronn package, and getting a different
version. (If we lead the distribution it can even have stranger effects.)

Historically they have been happy if we modified the packages so they were not
going to shadow the existing code, or if we kept it separate. That problem
should be accounted in implementing this.
