Issue #8984 has been updated by Daniel Pittman. Status changed from Accepted to Needs Decision Assignee set to Nigel Kersten
I don't believe this is a reasonable thing to implement. Specifically, it would save some work on the server, but it needs a lot more thought around, eg, StoreConfigs saving away the compiled catalog, that sort of thing. Currently we don't have a way to interrupt compilation, or any handling in our internal models around the fact that it could ever *be* interrupted. Nigel, are you sure? If so, what semantics do you want around StoreConfigs and all, WRT an aborted compilation? ---------------------------------------- Feature #8984: Client should pass timeout value to server so that server can abort compile if timeout passed. https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/8984 Author: Trevor Vaughan Status: Needs Decision Priority: Low Assignee: Nigel Kersten Category: plumbing Target version: Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: There's no reason to expend server resources finishing a compile if the client has already timed out for whatever reason. Suggest adding 10% to the number for clock drift on VMs. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
