Issue #2345 has been updated by Adrien Thebo. Assignee deleted (Paul Nasrat)
You raise a good point about the availability, or lack thereof, of dmidecode on OpenBSD. Regrettably it's one of the more useful ways of detecting virtualization, but in theory we could work around it. This specific issue probably should be generalized to add a virtual resolution that could map manufacturers to virtualization facts. I'll get some feedback from some people and see what the best tack on this is. ---------------------------------------- Bug #2345: virtual fact on openbsd wrong https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/2345 Author: Joe McDonagh Status: Re-opened Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: library Target version: 1.6.x Keywords: Branch: Affected Facter version: The virtual fact on openbsd is wrong on a vmware guest. I currently don't have any xen systems or anything like that to test, but a fix on openbsd is as simple as if Facter.value(:manufacturer) =~ /vmware/i result = vmware end That's with the patch I recently submitted to get the mfg fact on openbsd. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
